PROFILE FOR AMBASSADOR

Ambassador Ibim N. Charles hails from Buguma, Rivers State of Nigeria. After completing his Primary and Secondary Schools, attended the University of Port Harcourt where he graduated in Political Sciences and Administrative Studies in 1989. His National Youth Service program was in Ogun State and thereafter, in 1990, joined the Rivers State Government where he later transferred his services to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He attended the Nigerian Foreign Service Academy in 1993/1994 after which he was deployed to serve in various Departments in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1998 – to 2000, he went for his training and attachment program and he was posted to Warsaw, Poland. He returned to Headquarters and served in different departments of the Ministry. In 2003 – 2007, he was posted to London, United Kingdom. In 2007 – 2010, Ambassador Ibim Charles was deployed to the Presidency as Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff to the President.

Other diplomatic postings include; Ndjamena-Tchad, Jakarta- Indonesia, and Kinshasa-Democratic Republic of Congo as Charge d’ Affaire-ET from 2018 – 2021.

From January 2018, Ambassador Charles passed his Promotion Examination to the rank of a Director and by January 2021, was appointed by Mr. President as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Juba, Republic of South Sudan where he is currently based for a three year posting tenure. Ambassador Charles is married with three children.
